Meninas

Meninas has opinions about fashion, and those opinions are firmly rooted in the 18th century. Big skirts. A properly tightened corset. Fabric that makes a statement when you enter a room. She finds contemporary clothing deeply uninspiring and does not pretend otherwise.

She is glamorous in the old sense of the word — not flashy, but considered. Every detail chosen. She turns heads not by trying to but because she simply cannot help it.

Meninas sits with the quiet authority of someone who has always known she was the most interesting thing in any room. Her warm honey-glazed face holds a expression of serene, slightly languid confidence. Her coat falls in deep blue-grey folds around her, voluminous and sculptural — the closest approximation to the silhouette she actually deserves.

She is waiting, perhaps, for someone to bring back the corset. She is not holding her breath.
